On October 25th 1947 , Manufacturer D. Gottlieb & Co. released the Humpty Dumpty Pinball Machine. Invented by Harry mabs and illustrated by Roy Parker, this nursery rhyme-based pinball machine constructed of wood was the first of its kind to incorporate flippers.
Referred to as "flipper bumpers" these 6 outward facing flippers were centered in the middle of the pinball machine unlike the modern pinball machines where they are placed at the bottom of the table. Production run on the Humpty Dumpty Pinball was a mere 6500.
