Formed by parent companies General Motors and Standard Oil (Esso) in 1923, Ethyl Corporation was formed. The name Ethyl came from the patented “Tetraethyllead” oil blend manufactured by Dupont, who helped aid GM and Standard with the creation of this signature blend. These Ethyl globe faces would have sat at the top of a gas tank in a service station to proudly announce Ethyl products were dispensed there. Both globe faces are in original condition with minor browning and staining—some discoloration can be seen due to age. Sold in as-is condition.
