Leather license plates are some of the earliest pieces of automobile history. Back before the states issued license plates, it was the responsibility of the vehicle owner to make their own! One of the most durable material, leather became the most popular choice for automobile owners to display their licenses. From the early 1900's, this pieces reads 46-185. Time has worn away and cracked the leather-- additional damage can be seen to the original script of the numbers. A very uncommon yet sought out treasure for any automobile enthusiast!
