ENDANGERED HISTORY: THE NASHVILLE NINE LIST 2015
Meeting in historic Marathon Village, Mike gathered with local nonprofit Historic Nashville Inc. to announce their yearly Nashville Nine list, alongside local politicians, media, and preservation enthusiasts. The Nashville Nine list is the nonprofit’s yearly list of the city’s most endangered properties.
The Nashville Nine list was nominated by members of the community and represents nine historic properties threatened by demolition, neglect, or development. Historic Nashville Inc. focuses on these properties throughout the year through advocacy and outreach.
Nashville is the latest ‘It’ city, and we love that,” said Brian Tibbs, president of Historic Nashville. “We firmly believe, however, that preservation and development should work together to promote the best interests of the city, and to preserve the irreplaceable historic places that make our city unique. Thank you to all within our community that raised your voices to be heard by nominating a historic property for this year’s list.”
Historic Nashville works with the owners, government agencies, and the public to educate, evaluate, and create solutions for preserving these important elements of Nashville’s unique history and sense of place.
